Stop pretending you want to lose weight
How many diets have you followed and failed? How many exercise plans have you started and dropped? This should tell you it is time to stop pretending you want to lose weight.
I am guilty of this, but finally realised the only option is action.
The hundreds of pounds lost and gained over the years are a testament to your inability to stick to a diet or exercise regimen. Yes, there are those of you who will blame genetics and yes, there may be genetic reasons. Some people may not find it easy to lose weight, but you need to try.
It is up to you.
What is it you want?
Do you want to continue carrying that extra weight around, or do you want to lose some weight and feel good about yourself? I don’t care what people who have judged me by my weight, with or without getting to know me, think about me.
The biggest issue with diets is the minute we hit a bump in the road, we give up. If we look at how many diets we have followed over the years, it is as though dieting has become a hobby. Mental toughness is not there to follow a diet through to completion.
Trust me, losing just a few pounds does wonders for self-confidence, no matter what you tell yourself.
Because millions of people fail dieting every year, it seems we have adopted the attitude “well, at least you tried”, instead of kicking your butt for not trying hard or long enough.
Going through the motions of continually being on a diet is a crutch to make you feel better about yourself. There must be a time where all the failed diets and regaining of pounds tell you something you are doing is wrong. One or two cycles of failed diets are ok, but decades of the same is not.
You either want to lose weight or you don’t. This is a yes or no question.
Yes, we go for it; no, we pretend we are trying even though we already know the outcome of this through previous behaviour.
It is time to get real.
